About the project
Hondureños y Hondureñas Conectadas was a tripartite development project implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with SEDESOL and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería).
The initiative aimed to connect the Honduran diaspora with their home country, leveraging diaspora engagement to drive sustainable local development in underserved communities across Honduras. As the video editor for the project, I was responsible for transforming raw footage and field interviews into a cohesive suite of video assets designed to showcase the real-world impact of these joint efforts.
Challenge
The main editorial challenge lay in translating complex institutional policies and multi-partner development initiatives into clear, engaging content suitable for a broad, general audience. The raw footage was vast, requiring a rigorous curation process to identify core narratives, pull key soundbites, and maintain pace while ensuring all three key entities—IOM, SEDESOL, and Cancillería—were accurately and respectfully represented. Distilling technical development terminology into human-centered stories without losing institutional clarity demanded a sharp narrative eye and efficient pacing.
Results
The final output delivered a powerful series of promotional and storytelling videos that successfully brought visibility to the contributions of the Honduran diaspora and partner institutions. By prioritizing emotional resonance and visual clarity, the videos effectively communicated how collective diaspora action drives tangible community progress on the ground.
Distributed across institutional channels, the videos served as a key advocacy tool, building trust, highlighting successful community initiatives, and fostering a stronger sense of connection between overseas Hondurans and their homeland.
